Love notes in an interactive 15 lesson curriculum that teaches on understanding self-knowledge, personal aspirations, sexual values, healthy relationships, pacing and planning, the effects of parental relationships on children, compelling reasons to avoid unplanned pregnancy and more.
Dare to be King is a gang and violence prevention curriculum gives residents information o the relationship between the behavior they exhibit and the consequences that follow . Anger management, conflict management, and issues that may arise in the community also taught in these sessions.
Keep It Real sessions take place periodically throughout each month where Next Chapter staff facilitate discussions that allow residents the opportunity to dialogue amongst each other on current local and global events and happenings.
P.A.P.A. is an interactive curriculum that is used to help support and strengthen Next Chapter's "Independent Living" program and "Healthy Relationships" groups. With the goal of equipping residents with additional life-skills as they transition into adulthood, residents gain an understanding on what parenting means, the qualities that healthy relationships entail, laws on paternity, parental rights, child support, and more.
Let's Talk is an evidence-based, interactive, 14-Module curriculum intended to build life skills, increase knowledge about runaway resources and prevention, and educate about alternatives to running away. This program encourages youth to access and seek help fro trusted community members.
Next Chapter will provide Independent Living Groups to residents ages 15-18 years old. The program Director and Executive Director will lead these sessions providing the residents with one-on-one and groups sessions that will enhance the residents ability to make an informed transition focusing on the "Core Four:" Self Awareness, Acceptance, Achievement , and Self-Advocacy.
We have a vast array of programming that equips our residents with life skills that will allow for a healthy lifestyle and promising future if applied. The following are some of the additional, on-going programs we use to enhance our resident's individual plan of action towards personal successes: Health and Well Being, Reproductive Health, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Drug and Alcohol Education, Boys 2 Men Mentoring Program, Computer (Technology) Program, Zero to 100 Fitness, NCLC Book Club.
Our Level System is designed to provide residents with monetary allowances based on their attitudes and behaviors on a weekly basis.
Each month, a resident is selected to receive the Traveling Trophy, along with a $50 incentive for displaying proper behavior, chore completion, and displaying positive leadership among the residents.
NCLC offers onsite or offsite community parties to tutor residents. We also have a Report Card Incentive Program, providing monetary rewards for each grade level above the grade "D."
Each year the residents take an out-of-town trip during spring break or summer vacation to experience cities local colleges, museums, zoos, and learning local histories.
Next Chapter will assist residents in maintaining a positive relationship with their families, and that reunification and regular contact with their family members is a n integral part of their recovery.
Family members are encouraged to maintain contact with the residents through phone calls, written letters and (supervised) visits.
During times of crisis, our resident's safety is very important. Next Chapter relies on accessible support of several key organizations to provide assistance in these trying times including The Children Crisis Mobile Team (CCMT).
